About the Press

Open Access Press brings to open access publishing the experience of Edizioni Universitarie Romane, a scholarly publishing house active in Rome since 1952, specialising in psychology and psychiatry, the human sciences and academic non-fiction.

Building on this tradition — careful selection of texts, accurate editing, attention to every stage of the life of a book — Open Access Press publishes open access monographs, edited volumes and conference proceedings that are freely available to everyone, everywhere, with no economic or technological barriers.

Proposals are selected by the editorial board on the basis of quality and cultural and scholarly relevance; a scientific committee is currently being established to support the editorial board in the evaluation of works. Authors retain the rights to their works, which are published under Creative Commons licenses to ensure the widest possible dissemination and citability.

The platform, based on Open Monograph Press (Public Knowledge Project), exposes metadata according to international standards (OAI-PMH) for indexing in library catalogues and academic search engines.
